Description  USA WWII Officerís Nape Strap
Price $ 25.00

Original US Army and USAAF Officerís service cap nape strap, ca. 1938-1942. A feature on most early crushers, the nape strap augmented the chinstrap, providing a truly functional means of securing cap (especially when mounted on horseback--a mandatory skill taught at West Point until 1942), fastened by the chinstrap buttons and secured on the capís rear band when not at use. Nape strap is of two-piece construction, with a buckle chape half and a billet half. The integral buckle is of gilded steel, while the leather finish is Army Russet enamel. This example is NOS/unissued, and a handsome piece of work. The buckleís gilding has partially corroded, but this strap is about as mint as they get. Scarce early war crusher accessory.
